I was browsing HouseBeautiful.com for pictures (or should I call it “prowling” or “stalking”?) and I saw these two floors. I thought both were worth posting and saying a few words about…
Rustic of Rustic
This is one rustic situation here. I’m especially intrigued by the beam spacing above, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about the flooring…
And how totally awesome it looks!
In this setting…
In somebody else’s house.
Still, it’s very beautiful, don’t you think?
Applied Decor on the Painted Floor
That’s just cool.
I wish I had an ultra 50x zoom option. I can’t tell if that’s done with stain or applied on the floor. But the more I look, the more I think it’s done with stain.
Notice how the seams go through the pattern and you can see each board. There’s also grain in the darker areas so I think the pattern was put in-place using tape while the rest of the floor got the white treatment. Then put the clear over all of it.
That’s my theory anyway.
What do you think? Top one too rustic for your taste? How about the bottom?
I really love that first photo. There’s something about being a space that is so casual and lived-in feeling that makes you feel happy to be there. It’s nice to know you’re not going to be yelled at about wiping your feet when you walk in a house.
I’ve seen this photo before but I never noticed the beam spacing before. Interesting.
Looks like the first photo is the winner! I agree. Thanks for chiming in!
I really love picture number 1. I love the rustic feel. I also like number 2, but the image is a bit formal(?) for me.
I like them.
I really loved that first picture too! I wondered if it was too rustic… like too many places for dirt to collect, etc. But the colors and the brightness of that space is perfect. Thanks for visiting!
