I was looking at door pictures on Flickr and I came across this shot by Atelier Teee.
Today being Veteran’s Day, I figured a house prominently flying the Stars and Stripes would make a good blog post.
They sure don’t build them like this anymore. I imagine that bay window was built in a shop and brought over to the site when the house was ready. The stone arch above it is real craftsmanship. It would NOT be easy to find someone who could do that nowadays.
Take a close look at the doorway and you can see that the walls are about two feet thick! How cool is that? And the brightly colored door just goes to show that a standard “15-Light” door can make a great entry door.
I bet it’s neat to live in a big city. This house is in Chicago.
Very cool! We used to live outside of Chicago while my husband went to grad school, and we’d occasionally just drive around some of the ritzy-er neighborhoods just to look at houses! We never saw this one …
I love the stone archways! The red matches up well with the house and the flag.
I’ve never been to Chicago but I wonder if there are other houses like this there. The reflection on the windows seems like a small apartment or condo.
