It occurs to me that as more and more things in our world become “now” things, the harder it will be to accept those things that aren’t!
Some things just take time…
- 16 years to get a drivers license
- 9 months to have a baby
- 50 plus years before you get the seniors discount!
Creating the home of your dreams is in this group. For those who have plenty-o-cash, it still takes many months. For the rest of the world, it can take years, even decades. That’s okay!
So if your list of “future improvements” is much longer than your time and resources can even begin to touch right now, don’t worry! Just keep at it. If you go two years without remodeling a thing, don’t worry! Just keep dreaming!
Let your heart enjoy what you have now while your mind imagines what the future might hold. It will come… and as I often told my clients… you can’t rush perfection!
How true. I think we all have dream lists much longer than our money list. lol Great advice. Hugs, Marty
So true. Thanks for the reminder… 🙂
Twenty-five years….and still waiting for a kitchen, I’ve cooked on the same card tables (albeit skirted and cute) and entertained large groups……keeping the faith…..
So true. (The part about waiting for a senior discount made me laugh!) Having patience can be tough when you want everything finished now. We’re adding molding to the tops of our kitchen cabinets today, finally, after living here for 6 years and wanting to do it for that long. It feels so good to get things like that done, but then there are about a million more projects waiting in the wings… 🙂
I’ve moved about every 4 years or so. Just when I’m tired of a room, I end up w/a whole new house instead. Is it wrong that I enjoy that? Been in this house for 3.5 years now. Gettin’ itchy! 😉
My handyman and I are on year 7 of our “5 year” remodeling plan! We are doing it all ourselves (well, mostly) and we both work over 40 hours a week at a regular job, thus the loooooonnnng time it’s taking. We enjoy the process, but I’m ready to be DONE!
BTW-found you through Layla over at The Lettered Cottage via a comment you left about the beautiful home on “Raised In Cotton’s” blog.
I subscribe.
