Hey Crew! Time to pick a cabinet door winner!
It was really fun hearing everyone’s ideas and it was not easy at all to pick three finalists!
Some of the ideas were great, but beyond either my abilities, or at least my time constraints! I would have enjoyed trying to create the flowing hair of an Afghan Hound, but I just don’t think I can squeeze in the four weeks that would take me!
I appreciate all the ideas and I hope you all vote for your favorite.
Door #1
Coffee Cup w/ Steam!
This was first suggested by Michelle at AuntieThesis!
Door #2
A Tall Pink Flamingo!
At first I thought this would be too hard, but I decided to see what I could do. I lost count, but there are over 100 holes to drill! This was suggested by Victoria at Auction Girl Vintage.
Door #3 is…
For the Birds!
The orginal bird got lots of support already, so it seemed like a sure thing finalist to me! It will be on the same cabinet door as the ones shown above, not on this door here…but doing these little things in Photoshop is a chore! So I was happy to use the picture I already had!
The bird was first suggested by Tammy! (I don’t see a link to a blog)
The actual door is solid maple and is about 13″ wide x 18″ high. I’ll find some cool hardware to put on it or leave it blank. I’ll discuss that and the color with the winner before we do it!
I’m going to combine the hole drilling with a post on painting your cabinets! I’m going to try and refrain from doing something super artsy and out of the ordinary so I can show you a simple “paint your cabinets” process!
We’ll do a solid color and I won’t use a sprayer…we’ll apply the paint by hand and I’ll show you how to get a great finish!
Cast Your Ballot!
Let your voice be heard! You wouldn’t want the lesser design to win just because you did not vote, would you? So vote and rest easy knowing that the American way is alive and well. The future of our great nation (or at least kitchens) depends on it!
We’ll leave this open for votes for a few days and I’ll announce the winner late next week!
Another Giveaway!
I hate to bore you with too many giveaways, but this door one was kind of “spur of the moment”. But I already had an AWESOME giveaway planned and I’m excited to get it out there! So come back on Monday to see what that’s all about and to get your chance to win big! (really, pretty big)
Door #1, Door #2, or Door #3 ???
Vote now just by simply leaving a comment saying which one is your favorite. No secret ballots here! Votes are open to everyone…just tell me which one you like!
And in case you’re wondering about the Palm Tree… that one was a shoe-in from the get go! We’ll do it at the same time and I’ll show you what it looks like…might go crazy with the finish on that one!
Door #3,
That’s the one for me!
love the original bird… the color, handle, everything!

My vote goes for #1. I might prefer a lighter color but really like the coffee cup picture.

Love the bird. I have a lot of bird accents in my kitchen. Definatley my choice
Door #1! Love the color!
Mrs. Q’s last blog post..Less Than A Week!
Love the coffee cup, guess that might have to do with the fact that I am a coffee drinker. Originally I was torn between that and the little bird but coffee won out.
Cheri’s last blog post..Can you help?
Definitely #3- it’s so sweet! (I think this must be a good year for birds- they’re popping up every where!)

oooo the coffee cup w/ steam for SURE!! Love it!!
Kristi’s last blog post..Giveaway!
I vote for #3. The small bird is just adorable, oh so simple, and oh so in style these days. Love your blog, by the way. ~ Sue
I’m all about the original bird :0) Door #3, sir! Annnnnnnd just for the record, me’s don’t have a bloggy. I just read the wonderful blogs that all of you talented individuals write! :0D
Furthermore (I forgot to include this), you must have read my mind about painting cabinet doors! I am mid-kitchen remodel and currently tackling cabinet doors. I have so far been hesitant about painting because I don’t want to spray inside, I don’t want brush marks, and I don’t want wonky roller marks! You absolutely must be psychic ;0) I can’t wait for the cabinet painting post!!
Love door #3!
Love door number three. The bird is simple and cute and the color is perfect!
Door #3- seems to be “timeless”
Also like the color.
Love Door # 3. The Bird is so whimsical 🙂

My vote is for the original bird. So cute and fresh.
Door #1 with the cute coffee mug with steam is my vote! It sets the mood for a comfortable kitchen and could be an unexpected surprise if done on just one door.
Love your site!
I like Door #3 the best, too. I can’t wait for you to show us how to get a great finish from painting by hand. That’s one of the projects I want to tackle next–once I can decide what will go best with our 90’s blue countertops.

Coffee cup! Makes me want to brew and drink some coffee, but I won’t … because if I do it now (late afternoon) I’ll be up all night!

I vote for the coffe cup!
Door #3- the best things are always behind door #3 on game shows!
I like the bird but if I had thought to leave a suggestion, I might have suggested salt and pepper shakers for a spice cabinet. Or even a laundry basket. I think a cabinet like this would be a fun distraction to lighten and beautify the chore that is laundry!

Bird. Definitely the bird.
I vote door 3.

Dear Remodeling Guy,
I’ve stumbled across your blog and have been browsing around. I love homes and I love looking at others ideas for inspiration. Here is the deal though…We have a 50’s ranch. We downsized from a modest 1800sf home to a 1600sf home with three children, two cats and a dog. Crazy huh? We do hope to add on and remodel some areas of the home some day. I wondered if you could find photos of homes, inside and out that aren’t these huge monstrosities that will never be in our budget. While they are lovely, they are not reality for probably most of us. Since the photos are never going to be my reality I have a hard time reading through the post, which I believe is not your intention. I believe your intention is to share and encourage us to believe that we can fix our homes up, make it beautiful and not get ripped off in the process. I have faith that your blog will have a lot to offer me, so much so that I have added your button/link to my side bar. Blessings to you Remodel Guy. I hope I have not been too critical.

I love the bird! Hands down… classic and simple.
Gosh, I take a day off and y’all go nuts over a little blue bird :o) I’m voting for my flamingo, though my guess is that very few people have hot pink cabinets, even in Florida. Maybe the young mom types would prefer a yellow door instead of a pink one, and Big Bird instead of a flamingo. Or are tall birds not as cute as itty bitty ones?
All three designs look great, Tim. You’re an amazingly talented guy!

Door #3–the bird
#3 – Bird
I’m in love with #3 the bird…coffee is a little too tame, flamingo needs to be standing in a flower box!!
JaneR
It’s door #3 for me.
I LOVE the bird – excellent color, and with the handle – the whole design comes together beautifully! (It helps that my kitchen color scheme happens to be similar to that blue 🙂
I really like the bird, but think I love the coffee cup. Door # 1! : )
And the Birds Have it! – Votes are now closed! Thanks for playing!
